How to Reheat Nachos

Nachos are pure comfort. It’s a dish that has a little bit of everything, salt, crunch, cheese, and spice. This dish has it all, but what can you do with the leftovers?

What are Nachos?

Nachos are a delicious medley of flavors that have been at the center of the Tex-Mex food scene since 1940. Nachos combine excellent flavors and textures into an irresistible dish that works as an appetizer or a stand-alone meal. Nachos are a simple dish that just makes you happy to eat.

The basic formula for nachos is chips, cheese, and jalapenos. This is the original nacho format, but really great nachos will step it up a notch with extra toppings. Many modern versions of nachos include meat, beans, or roasted veggies for extra flavor and texture.

Today there are many different variations of nachos. Some nachos are topped with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream, but if you have the basic elements of tortilla chips with melted cheese, you are looking at nachos. How to Reheat Nachos

The trouble with nachos is that they are so good sometimes you cannot finish the whole dish in one sitting! With layer upon layer of crunchy, cheesy flavors you will not want to waste one bite; luckily there is an easy way to reheat those nachos to enjoy again!

The trick to reheating nachos is to remove the less oven-friendly ingredients before reheating. You can enjoy pico de gallo hot, but you probably don’t want to, so try to remove the cold elements. The part you want to reheat are chips, cheese, and protein, and here’s how:

In the Oven/Toaster Oven:

  1. Preheat an oven or toaster oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment, then arrange the nachos on the tray in an even layer.

  2. Bake the nachos for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is remelted and hot.

In the Microwave:

  1. Arrange the nachos on a microwave-safe plate.

  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals until the cheese is remelted and the nachos seem warm. Check for doneness in different locations at each interval to avoid microwave hot stops.

In a Skillet

  1. Spay a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray, then place it on a burner over medium-low heat.

  2. Add the nachos to the skillet and cover. Cook for 2-5 minutes, agitating the chips occasionally to avoid burning. The nachos are done when the cheese is fully remelted and hot.
